My journey to New Zealand is fast approaching and the levels of excitement are certainly rising. I will be travelling to New Zealand in July, and embarking on a music tour with my school band and choir. Travelling first to Auckland and onward to Rotorua, the excursion is sure to be a memorable experience. After steady and consistent rehearsals over the past semester, we will perform several public concerts as well as visiting two primary schools to perform for the students.
All our rehearsals are now complete, the next time we perform as a group will be in New Zealand. The whole tour cohort has continued to work very hard this past semester, in order to perform our music to a high standard.
I have been playing the flute for the past 7 years and this musical tour is a fabulous opportunity to further develop my musicianship. I am hoping to become a more experienced flautist through our intense schedule of various public concerts and private performances. My practice schedule has become more regular through my preparation for the tour, although there is always room for improvement.
I am incredibly excited about having the opportunity to embark on a tour of New Zealand. This year I will be celebrating my birthday in an entirely new place, an aspect of my journey that I am very much looking forward to. I am very privileged to be able to experience this fantastic corner of the earth, once again. Lastly, the above photograph of my Dad and I was taken during my last trip to New Zealand as a nine month old, at the Fox Glacier in Tai Poutini National Park, on New Zealand’s South Island.
